Contest! In conjunction with a birthday…

If you’ve been reading here, you know I have a good friend who is a songwriter. And, you might remember that one of his songs was selected from about 2,000 to be in the top 10 of a Country Music Television (CMT) songwriters award. From there, it is listeners’ choice. Fans vote online as much and as often as they like to determine the winner.
Well, today is Derek’s birthday, and to celebrate and hopefully give him a final push in the CMT songwriter’s contest, I thought I’d host a little contest of my own. Derek has graciously provided me with one of his recently released CDs “Kiss on the Wind” to give to one of my readers.
You can listen to the song in the contest “Your First” on my sidebar. It isn’t on the CD, but if you want to read a review of the CD, go here to read what Samborakid had to say about “Kiss on the Wind.” My favorites on the CD are “Alice Jane,” the story of a girl’s revenge on a corrupt sheriff (a little reminiscent of Dixie Chick’s “Goodbye Earl“) and “Footprints on the Water,” an honest statement about faith in the midst of trial. The CD is great, and if you don’t win, please consider going to Derek’s website to purchase it.
To enter the contest, please go here and vote for “Your First” by Derek and Cindi. Then, leave a comment stating that you voted. (Yes, this is the honor system!) Remember that you can vote as many times as you like – the more the better! For every comment left indicating a vote, you’ll be entered to win. One winner will be randomly selected from among the voters. I may even let Derek draw the winning name! Leave your email address as well if it isn’t on your profile so that I can contact you if you win.
Happy Birthday, Derek! We all hope you’re the real winner! This contest ends at midnight on Friday, February 26, just like the CMT contest.
Oh yeah, and a shout out to my hubby who did the photography for Derek’s CD!
