Rachael - I agree! I think that is what his moment on stage was supposed to be, but in a day where we've seen our share of preacher confessions on camera, it doesn't seem sufficient to me.

{SPOILER ALERT}

What I really thought was going to happen - and I think I would have been more pleased if this had been the case - was that when she goes to meet him at the ranch, that's a set up by him. At least then he is truly evil.

I loved it! Her journey of faith, which includes questions and doubt, was very honest. The wandering Englishman found his answer and so did she. She observed and asked questions about Buddha. In contrast, Harvey LIVED the sacrificial love of Jesus and was His arms and feet in Nan. Couples didn't "communicate" like they do now or spend every moment with the children, especially in a privileged family as they were in Bangkok.That's the way life was and it was portrayed well.
I was very much looking forward to reading this book, but I agree there was a lot left to be desired. The ending was way too easily wrapped up and I think Jordan could have done a lot more with the subject matter, instead of just using religion as an antagonizing force. I really, really disliked the ending - Rev Dale gets off easy because now his conscience is clear. At least in The Scarlet Letter, both characters experienced mental anguish.

I found my bottle at Wal-Mart of all places...It was a spur of the moment decision and I haven't regretted it yet! I'm fairly new to the wine scene, as I have been an avid beer connoisseur for the past few years. It is a lighter tasting wine than most others that I have tried and I definitely prefer it chilled opposed to straight from the store shelf :)

Probably the right call, Rebecca...if someone lets you borrow it, it wouldn't make for a bad beach read. Free & fast, but other than that, skip to the next one.

Well, shoot. This book was on my list. :( Thinking I'll bump something up instead of spending time on this one.

Hi Ladies, not sure if you have a Cost Plus World Market in your area but I found it there on sale for $8.99 and they have it all over the store. Good luck finding it, this is my first time trying it and I hope I enjoy it as much as everyone else.

I'm having a terrible time finding this wine. It's so smooth and velvety, and as far as I'm concerned, perfect for sipping all year long! My friend and I ordered a case from a local retailer a few months back and still haven't received that long awaited call saying that it has arrived. The manager at the store passed along that there had been an issue at the vineyard, but I've been unable to confirm nasty tidbit of information. I had been concerned about the appearance of ordering 12 bottles of wine, but now, however, I'll walk out of the store with those 12 bottles with the excited enthusiasm of knowing I've got something everyone else wants :)

I don't know, Amy. I don't drink this in the winter, so I haven't been looking for it. I sure hope when it starts warming up & I am looking for it that it is waiting for me!
